Hi! This is my new ficus microcarpa. Is the green moss looking stuff on top of the soil okay for my plant? I figure it would be alright if it was normal moss, but it looks like it has been dyed a bright green.

    It is quite bright, isn't it? Haha. Moss provides many benefits for bonsai. Watch the tree and see how it grows. Could always replace the moss with some you might find.

    I bought moss like this too, to fix it try dunking it in water and cleaning off the dye (make sure to not stair your hands) then let it dry for a while. I’m pretty sure this dyed green moss is fake or dried out so doesn’t really give any benefits to the plant. I’d recommend finding or buying real moss and using that instead.
