How do you get started with bonsai trees and where should I get one? Are they easy to take care of or are they a more difficult plant to take care of? Thank you so much!

    Any tree can be bonsai! You can grow it like a normal plant and prune it into a shape that you like

    I have lots of experience with bonsai. My suggestion would be to get a fig (ficus) because they are easy to care for and can survive in low light conditions indoors. If you don’t have a place to put a plant outdoors, do not get a juniper. They are conifers and have specific soil needs and light requirements. I have a fig, and I use a soil mix of akadama, lava rock, and pumice in a 1:1:1 ratio. Misting daily can promote healthy growth. Water as soon as the middle layer of soil dries out. For conifers like junipers, use a soil mix of expanded slate, horticultural charcoal, pine bark, and lava rock in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. Water a day after the middle layer of soil dries out.
