Morgan Picillo 🖤 🌿I’m sorry that your bonsai is dropping all those leaves! 😔 do you know what direction that window is facing? Is the soil dry between waterings?

That looks to be a chinese elm, which is semi-deciduous. That means it can go into winter dormancy, but doesn't have to if it stays warm. Yours probably got cold enough at night that it's doing a winter dormancy, so it's dropping leaves and entering a rest period (which is good; they tend to do better with a dormancy and being indoors will shelter it from getting too cold.) You should reduce watering (watch the soil to see when it needs it; it may only need water once a month, so really resist the urge to overwater it.)

As for styling and pruning care: when the plant is fully dormant (all leaves have dropped) is a great time for any bigger cuts for shaping the whole silhouette. Late winter/early spring when new buds are starting to open is great for maintenance trims and any shaping where you want new growth from near the cuts
