I was looking for small planters to hold my stater plants and cuttings that would not easily topple. I wanted something with a different design than the standard offerings which tend to be shorter succulent pots and tend to be a bit expensive. I found some Asian tea cups that are slightly less than 3 inches wide. They have no drain holes, of course. But, a hole can be added with a diamond tip or carbide tip masonry/ceramic drill bit. They are about $20 for a set of 4. These are sold by TEANAGOO on Amazon. Search for Chinese, Japanese or Korean ceramic tea cups online.

Y’all. I think I’ve cracked it! Here’s my DIY grow light solution. Works great in my converted greenhouse, bathroom, because I need the reach and the flexibility. Total cost : $50 + Room Essentials 5-Head Floor Lamp: $25, Target + 5 Sansi 10W LED Grow Lights: $22, Amazon This particular lamp gives the option to turn on two, three, or all the lamp heads. Plus moveable lamp heads! The Sansi bulbs constantly run on flash sales, so they could be a little bit cheaper. Foot candles range from 1800 to 200, depending on distance. I’m so excited right now, I feel like I’m on the verge for finding a rhyme for the word orange. 🤪 Sharing in case this is helpful to any other plant parents!

TIL that Christmas cactuses are epiphytes… what?!?! Had no idea. What kind of pots/planters do you use for your epiphytes? I have this really cool hanging planter that’s perfect for my staghorn fern (photo). I wish I could find more of these. I’d like to repot my rabbit’s foot fern, and would like to give her the perfect new home. 🪴🏡💚 What do you recommend?

Hi All 👋🏽 I have a baby bamboo that I need to replant. I currently have cacti/succulent soil as well as bonsai soil. Will either of these be suitable for the bamboo or should I purchase another type of soil?

I 💕LOVE💕 my snake plant. Eventually I’m going to have to repot it. I’ve been searching on and off for years, but never found a pot I trusted/liked enough to buy for him. His current pot is 14” wide and 11” high. He is heavy as hell. Do you have any suggestions for where I can get a sturdy, attractive pot of the correct shape (cylindrical) and size?

There was a post about rechargeable grow lights. I needed a grow light in the middle off a room. It won’t be safe the run an extension cord to the middle of the room. I would be the first one to trip on it in the middle of the night. My solution is to use a rechargeable battery pack. It’s also called a power bank and portable charger on Amazon. I already had the battery pack before buying grow lights. (I had several power drop outs after storms and during replacements of utility components in my area. bought larger portable generators to replace this small power pack.) I added a single extension pole 3.5 in circular grow light. It provides sufficient light for 12 small pots. I recharge the battery pack every three days overnight. The light must be unplugged at night or it will almost drain the battery by morning. It’s a temporary solution for plants brought in for 2 to 3 months.

I got my first grow light today (after some helpful research on here) and I’m super excited to see the before/after! Does this placement seem okay to start with? The clip attachment is a little limiting as far as where I can put it! *the window is west facing so they get some sun*

A note on grow lights. This and a huge number of plants spent July 2023 until now under supermarket fluorescent lights. It was an important lesson in to help my lighting paranoia. Did they thrive? I don’t see much growth on any of them, but some of the remaining blue columnar plants are still blue blue - a bit pale, but blue. I spent some time reading about the lights I have in my kitchen, and with that, the lights are now on a timer, as well 💡

Question about grow lights: I’ve never used them before and just picked up a couple of small clip on ones. For plants that are marked as doing best in part sun, is it harmful for them to be under the grow light the full time? I have it set for 12 hours a day at 50% brightness. Follow up question, should I use 100% brightness, and what difference does that make? Thanks!

My amaryllis’s progress since I put it under a grow light in December. 😯 I’m using a SANSI bulb.

FYI. Your local Hobby Lobby has all plant pots and vases 50% off through Saturday.!! I found some gorgeous planters CHEAP!
