With a self watering pot that uses a wick, do you still have to limit the amount of water for plants that dont need alot? Or will the plant only use what it needs?

    I have never had success using self watering pots as intended. I use them as bottom watering pots that I don't need to move unless I add too much water.

    I have cacti in self watering pots and most of the time I just snooze the watering action until the next time just to make sure that the soil dries in-between watering.
