GROW LIGHT HELP Hi everyone! I’m thinking to get a grow light for my plants, it’s a mix of chinese money plant, monstera, corn plant etc, standard domestic ones. They’re all in the living room, which is below the ground level and its window faces north, so not a lot of light, especially in the winter. There’s A LOT online, difficult the get my head around it. I’m based in the uk, and i’m looking for a light that casts good light on my corn plant, which is 1.90m, the mosntera, which is 1.70m and all the other little ones. Looking for something also that doesn’t look horrible. A lot of boxes to tick, i know, but if anyone’s got a good idea, please let me know :)

    Checkout light bulbs from Soltech, Sansi and Barrina. Add the bulbs in your own lamps. Barrina T5 is very popular for under shelf mounting. Check for the amount of light from The grow lights. Use a light meter app or get a light meter to measure the amount of light hitting the plants. 🪴🍀

      Ok, so i can use bulbs on my own lamps, which is ideal. I’ve seen many with integrated LED lights but they’re not nice. Thank you so much this is super helpful :)

    Hi there, there’s a UK company called Grow Gang that make excellent quality grow lights. My favourite is their Pianta bulbs but since you’re in the UK you have access to more of their options. I like to use the Pianta bulbs in hanging pendant cords and also in existing lamps. They are not cheap pieces of crap like many of the lights available on Amazon etc (eg those awful gooseneck style ones) and also don’t make your home look like a grow room. I’ve tried more expensive bulbs like Soltech Vita and also less expensive ones like Sansi but the Grow Gang ones are by far my favourite. They also have a slightly warmer colour temp which is my personal preference aesthetically:) Best of luck!

      Oh yes, been looking at grow gang, so you recommend them, yeah? Warm light is ideal since i dont wanna feel like i live in a dentist’s studio, and the fact that i can choose my own lamp where to put them on is even better :) super helpful, thank you!

      Hahaha yes I agree, cold lighting isn’t very cosy! Yes I recommend the Pianta, I have 4 of their bulbs set up in different lamps currently, I find them excellent. Good light output for plants, wattage not too high, attractive colour temp for human eyes, nice robust bulb housing. Grow bulbs tend to have higher wattage than regular LEDs so just check that your lamps have the appropriate wattage rating. For example, Pianta bulbs are 18W so your lamps will need to be able handle 18W at minimum. Grow bulbs also tend to be heavier than regular bulbs and can sometimes tip a lamp over depending on the lamp’s design so just watch out for that :)
