It appears the majority of my house plants have hydrophobic soil. I’m going to run to town soon and see what I can find to make a chunkier soil mix for them. What do you all use in your chunky soil mixes and where do you get it from?
I use Fox Farm Ocean Forest as my base and supplement with extra perlite, peat, and orchid bark as needed depending on the plant. A bag of earth worm castings is great to have on hand, too

+1 for Fox Farm, but agree that it’s too dense right out the bag for most tropicals. I’d also recommend Mother Earth Groundswell if you can find it. I’ve been using Groundswell + perlite + worm castings lately. I add orchid bark for aroids
