   Generally, I don’t do self watering pots bc I’m a helicopter plant parent lol I like to be hands on and I haven’t had the best experience with set and forget methods. Some people swear by them, you can bottom water your plants and forget about them for a while. I think it’s a matter of preference and what your situation is. 💚 congrats on your new addition 🪴 Side note: Costa Farms is a terrible nursery to buy from, they treat their employees poorly, take advantage of immigrant labor but lobby against fair and humane conditions for United States growers bc it would hurt their bottom line. And I’ve had the worst experience with their plants in general (root rot, bacterial growth, mealy bug infestation and plants without roots) I’ll tell anyone who listens to avoid their plants.

   I wouldn’t recommend a self-watering pot for a ficus elastica. I’d opt for a plastic pot with plenty of drainage holes or a terra cotta one with at least one large drainage hole, and a pot no more than 1-2 inches wider in diameter than the width of the plant’s rootball. You’ll probably want to check the roots for signs of distress or rot during the repot if it’s been in a self-watering pot for some time
