Looking for potting soil suggestions! I have a few monsterras, jade, bear paw, snake and a spider plant. I want to eventually upgrade their soil from premade mixes to customized soil. I don't know anything about creating your own soil mixes though, and would love advice and resources on how one would start learning.
fox farm ocean forest is the GOAT for a base, in my opinion. it’s the base for all of my soil loving plants. i always have bags of fine peat, perlite, earthworm castings, and orchid bark to add in based on the requirements of specific plants

0개 좋아요 the app has some good general information about growing media per plant. for your collection well-draining (so good extra handfuls of bark and perlite) is best. things like alocasia and oxalis for example do best (in my experience) in a 1:1 peat and perlite for the right water retention. all plants are different and a lot of this is trial and error!

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is the base for most of my non-succulents. Spider plants specifically are mixed 3:1 with Fox Farms:Bonsai Jack Gritty Mix Succulents get a 1:1 mix of Perfect Plants Succulent Soil:Bonsai Jack Gritty Mix I have a dirty secret; I've never bought perlite 😅 I don't like the way it looks with a bunch of it in the soil and I've found a good ratio of Gritty Mix to give me a similar result. It's probably more expensive, but it's a better aesthetic for me
