hey all, just got into fertilizer, i’ve heard people talk before of ratios and 3-2-1’s ? i might so dumb but i have no idea what it means , can someone explain it? the bottle i bought says very little. i hope this doesn’t sound dumb haha i just hear a lot about it and i can’t find a source that explains it too well
it’s pretty simple, the numbers, or N-P-K ratio, represent 3 vital macronutrients. each plays a different role in plants’ growth, so research is helpful in finding what’s best for specific plants. the first number is nitrogen, which is higher in foliage-focused fertilizers. the second is phosphorus, vital for root and bloom growth. potassium, the K, is for overall plant health. there’s also many important micronutrients. i use an organic foliage focused fertilizer (joyful dirt’s all purpose) and supplement blooming plants with fish bone meal.

좋아요 1개 i wouldn’t worry about any of this seeming complicated btw, i find a lot of plant science can be very convoluted and if you’re new to botany or horticulture in general i’m sure all the new terminology and sheer amount of information can be overwhelming. your plants will probably be very grateful for the nutrients, my last tip is to always err on the side of under-fertilizing because over-fertilizing can kill, but a plant lacking in nutrients will probably survive just fine, especially succulents.
