Reading up on using hydrogen peroxide for plants. Do you ever add it to your plants’ water? Treating one of my spider plants for root rot today. 😣

    Is he living in water? Or is that just to clean the roots? I’ve never added it for the plant to sit in like that. But I’ve used it once I’ve cleaned all the dirt off the roots. I did a 4:1 water to HP ratio, sprayed roots, let sit for a minute, rinse off and then repot in fresh soil.

      She’s taking a disinfecting bath before repotting. 😊

    Hydrogen peroxide is great to treat root rot after it happens, but not so much to prevent it. For prevention I like to add horticultural charcoal to my soils, charcoal is a natural water purifier and adds extra drainage because it’s usually in big chunks. Haven’t had any issues since I started doing it!!

      Thank you! She’s been giving me problems since she was given to me, lol. I will try the charcoal!

    For my water props I will use distilled water vs tap water. It seems to help with root rot. I live in an old house and I always worry the mineral content in my tap water throws them off. Something you could try!

      Thank you! I use distilled for my terrariums, don’t know why I didn’t think to use it for my water-rooted plants. 😄
