Zan~ Anxious Planter

I’m curious about greenhouses indoors or in window. Anyone have any recommendations on small ones that are easily built minimum extra setup and can roughly fit about 10 or so plants? I’ve been trying to figure out a place I can have my plants and have control over their environment, as I’m heat sensitive so can’t exactly not have my ac which causes some issues according to some sources, and due to the positioning of my home I don’t have any truly sunny rooms so ideally I’d want to create a spot where I can have my plants and be able to meet their requirements. I’m not interested on making them go crazy, I just like keeping plants and wanna keep them healthy. So would investing in a small greenhouse, cabinet or something or would just a grow light be sufficient enough. My room averages a temp of 64-75 and roughly 54-72 humidity. I get south light in one window but it’s not direct cus other houses are like 10ft away and we have loads of trees so. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep everything happy? Everything I’m interested in keeping in a enclosed environment is under my bedroom tab. I only cataloged what plants are in the house because cus ocd lol.

    The ikea Akerbar display boxes are great and if you weather seal the gaps it can function as a greenhouse. There are two sizes and the longer one should probably be able to fit ten smallish plants.

      Sadly idk if I can ship ikea, I don’t live near one our closest is probably 3-4 hours away. And I’ve heard they require a bunch of mods to make it like a greenhouse 🫤

    someone already mentioned but the ikea cabinet. Im pretty sure Benjiplant has a video making one. You may not be able to get the cabinet but maybe you could look at something similar.

    Hey Zan, just going through some old posts. So I’m wondering, when you say 10 plants or so, I’m assuming the plants are “small”? I own a cold frame cabinet similar to this. I use it for propagating plants outdoors but I see no reason you couldn’t use it inside. I can tell you that the temperature is significantly hotter in the cabinet. If something like this interests you, there are so many different shapes and sizes. If I were to propagate indoors in the winter I might put a heating pad at the bottom.

      Random words of advice here. I used a cold box outdoors and can confirm the temps were near 100+ inside the box in May (outside temps were around 80). I was just dipping my toe into outdoor greenhouse ideas, though. ps look how many plants fit

    I hear you. It’s just an option. Some key points about a cabinet like this is the type of wood used is made for outdoors so will not rot easily. Mostly it’s light weight lol. You can move this guy anywhere. Or you could look around, local OfferUp or thrift stores for a glass hutch of some sort and fashion your own if your up to a project.

      Yeah haha surprisingly it’s hard to find anything in person, other then the miracle grow greenhouses. Most cold frame greenhouses or actual greenhouses are sold online, so it’s hard to gain a sense of like what your truly getting into. But yeah I mainly have smaller plants except a hanging plant I’m working on and my giant birds nest fern.
