   I have been slowly moving some plants into Lechuza Pon, which is the sister medium to Leca, and better specifically for plants with a finer root structure like Alocasia and Calathea. But also great for Anthuriums! It is said that the easiest way to use Pon and/or Leca is to start your plants in them from babies, that way there is no transition shock or leftover soil bits to rot in the water, thus eliminating potential for root rot.) Here is a pic of my Alocasia corm babies in Pon (transitioned from pure Perlite covered dome propigation):

   Fyi…I’m adopting a closed vessel method rather than the self-watering pot or drainage hole + cover-pot or catch-tray method, because I’m training them with that from babies. But some other plants i’m transitioning i do the latter method.

   I am an LECA lover. All my plants transition at some point. I’ve found the key is checking them after transplant. That’s the nice thing about Leca- allows you to easily check roots.
