Has anyone tried the clear Naked Root planters? I want to try them but don’t want to drop a ton of money if they’re just average or not worth it. Thanks :)

SunnyThe Naked Root is just one brand of pots that allow airflow around the roots. Orchid pots have been around forever and achieve the same results at a fraction of the price. Naked Root is the patented brand for plant pots with air filtration. It’s a two pot system, an inner pot with PLENTY of drainage and slits for air, and an outer pot with a tap for bottom watering. So they also double as self-watering pots. And they make a clear version so you can monitor root growth

They sound like semi-hydro planters and as someone who prefers leca over soil and loves a clear pot that isn’t the typical jar or nursery pot… you’ve intrigued me🤔

They are the same design as hydro net pots except they brand it with an outer pot that allows airflow and has small water reservoir to be used for self watering.

I don’t see the Naked Pot brand providing better conditions than the current similar air pots. It’s not worth the price markup for me. Their specific setup maybe more convenient for others or may be popular because of the publicity. You need to do some research to determine if it’s worth it for your plants.

Super appreciate your insights. From this brand I also like how the planters are square rather than round. I have a ton of plants and a small space, so with square pots I save some space because I can push them next to each other. Do you know of an orchid pot or other hydro net pot brands that are square? The reservoir is also nice because I go on trips frequently and aren’t always home to water them on a schedule

I have had my plants in my sun room in Naked Root planters for 10 months. I think when I first started plants I said that in my plant description. I like them. Just record when you fill the bottom basin so you know when to water again. Not when it’s empty!

Note, that some plants can’t have their roots and soil sit full time in water. They may need the soil to dry out between watering.

With Naked Root, when you first pot your plants, you fill the reservoir and keep checking when it goes dry. Usually the next day or the next. Then you wait fifteen days or 21 before watering again. My spath is a drama queen so she’ll wilt and hang down the side to make me feel bad. So I water her when she wilts and she’s fine. Usually almost 2 weeks. I absolutely killed my first ZZ plant by following that formula. But I got another one and just water her sparingly.

Wolfen 🐺I've been wanting to get some of these. But went for cheaper options of net pots in deli containers. After seeing an Anthurium guy as follow on YT use them

The net pots on Megagreenhouse store are like $1 each depending on size. And then the delivery containers or cups at the restaurant supply are the same.
