Hello I just got this mass cane plant off of fb market place for free but it looks like it needs some help ,what do I do ?

Got this money tree from ikea and it had white powder on the leaves so I wiped it off with a damp cloth. Woke up today and lots of leaves were paper thin, others crispy. Some brown… had to cut a lot off. The leaves on it now have a strong earthy smell. What’s up with it? Also got 2 alocasia Polly’s and wiped their leaves… some are now paper thin at edges and one needed cut off. The cloth was not that wet so this shouldn’t have happened. Wtf yall (pics are right after wiping down before I woke up in horror)

I’m not sure how expert this is, but I felt empowered and more confident after pondering which wrong move to globally address in my herd. I have felt really lost after mealy bugs revealed themselves during my mass bottom watering endeavors last month. One quick advice: do not use anything white in your soil mix. It is so hard to determine what is sand wool old fertilizer beads pearlite Pumice dust Astrophytum skin etc. Mealies feed on sap, so any plant that produces that is at risk. My Echinopsis and Mammillaria and almost everything that isn’t Lithops or other “closed pores” plants (I just made up that term) are at risk For example, you know it’s a bug if it leaves oily residue on your fingers. HOWEVER, a piece of pearlite that has touched Neem oil looks identical. I also tapped the top of my shelf and noted tiny white dust that, when on top of a plant, looks like eggs. After a month, I decided the only way to deal is to dig it all up and remove anything white in the roots. This pair exploded with growth late 2022, but stalled all summer. Back to scrubbing.

I just wanted to share some info I learned about sterilization of plant tools, like scissors and such. I went to a rare plant shop that works closely with UC Davis (California, near Sacramento) to cultivate and preserve different plant species. The owner advised me that rubbing alcohol alone, even if it’s 70-90%, will not sterilize your plant tools. Apparently it dries too fast to kill anything. However, HAND SANITIZER, is a perfect replacement because they use additives that help it dry more slowly like aloe. You can put hand sanitizer into a small spray bottle and it sprays a nice mist out perfectly. Just wanted to share in case anyone is battling any issues that can spread from plant to plant. I was surprised to learn alcohol was inadequate.

Why is my Pothos getting sad looking? It’s properly watered on its schedule, fertilized, and has drainage. Lately, it has gotten wilted and is losing a lot of leaves as they yellow and brown. I’ve had in in this pot and space for multiple years now and it’s grown many feet. Plz help!!

Hey guys. I’m new to this whole plant thing. Only really started getting into it a couple of months ago. I have a good handful of plants, one of them being an amaryllis, which I heard is beautiful this time of year when they start to bloom. I was informed from the nursery that they should be watered every couple of days or so when they’re young and still growing. However, planta is telling me to water it every 2-3 weeks?? I got two conflicting watering times here. Anyone got some suggestions or the right info here? Here’s my baby :

The pothos I replanted after not replanting it for two years now has root root! It’s being taken care of though, still could you some tips tbh. So I cut some leafs off with the tiny roots. And put it in water! Hopefully I can save this one! I already have two pothos 🤣

My philodendron white wizards bottom leaf is yellowing. I feel like this could be happening naturally but I’m not sure completely. Does anyone know why this this is. The room it’s in is around 21 degrees c most of the time (69f) and has a humidity of around 60. I’m moving it to a mini greenhouse this week so it could be in a better place with better quality grow lights and more humidity.

My cold-hearted beheading paid off! Welcoming two new stems to my previously one stemmed burgundy rubber tree :)))

My variegated jade has most leaves with red tips/edges. I would rather have it just white and green because I think it looks better that way. I have read online it can be due to sun stress. So by giving a bit less light will the red fade overtime or is it permanent?

Can anyone tell me the type of Alocasia this is? I bought it late October knowing of its condition, but I wanted to bring it back to life — didn’t happen. The two leaves gave out but the new one was still looking good…until it wasn’t. I only have the bottom cutting left. Can I do anything with them?

Is anyone experiencing the app requiring a lot less watering needed? Some of my plants desperately need watering and yet the app keeps telling me to mist only. They’re all in a sunroom with 3 sides of windows and I’m afraid if I don’t water I’ll start losing them!

I bought this white bird of paradise in June and haven’t repotted since. So it’s sitting the the same soil and pot I bought it in. I checked the bottom of the pot today and saw it’s roots sticking out. I think I should repot it but I’m not sure it would be a good idea as it’s now late October and it’s going into winter. My house stays around 20 degrees celsius so would the time of year maybe not affect when to repot it? Not really sure so could someone let me know thank you
