Ok folks, I have a minor crisis. My plants look like dried leaves due to low humidity, I’m very allergic to mold, and for that reason I can’t get a humidifier. I have a small tabletop fountain and I was wondering if a fish tank mist maker ( ultrasonic vibrating disk that separates water molecules ) would work? it creates large amounts of fine mist and is often used for Halloween effects. I was thinking this might work to raise humidity… only problem is wouldn’t all that moisture just settle on the walls? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey! I am also very allergic to mold so I feel your pain but if you’re in a rather dry air state a small humidifier or even the fountain running for shorter periods of time in good air flow area won’t create enough lasting moisture to cause a mold situation. But also depending on how many plants you have you could try moving them into the bathroom while you shower and then move them back to their normal location after.

      Hmmm, I only have one plant that likes humidity at all, so I am very little help.🤪 But I was trying to think outside the box for you. Depending on how your bathroom is set up and the size of your plants, you could move some of the bigger ones into your bathroom permanently and let smaller ones take turns. I know you said you had too many to do this, but after living in a cramped house for years and learning to use every inch, here are some creative places. Hopefully one idea will help. I know I am seriously blessed to have a huge bathroom, but here are some visuals for ideas. I feel morally obliged to clarify that this house is a dream house for my family of 7 (4 kids plus we took in a grandparent) and we have lived in a much smaller home most of our lives and been close to the poverty line. Ok, now I feel better showing you.😅 Oh and please excuse the mess.🤪

      If you have a window in your bathroom, obviously small plants could go there. You could also hang shelves on the wall near a window like we did this cabinet and put plants there. There is a big tub below this that could be used to keep big plants if you happen to have a separate shower like we do. Or hang a plant hanger from the ceiling or wall and put hanging plants in front of the window.

      Or you could attach bins on the shower wall where you won’t bump them. I’ve used command strips made for moisture and they have held so far. I haven’t tried putting a plant on them yet for full disclosure. Or sit plants on a shelf above your shower, if you have one already. Or you could add one above a regular tub/shower combo. Might need to add a grow light also.

      If your concern about a humidifier is it harboring mold, my husband and I have been very happy with this one. He got frustrated at how hard our previous one was to clean. This one has been much easier to maintain.

    Thanks so much! I appreciate it! I actually have a fairly large main bathroom, it has a small window… it also has a very deep ( Almost two foot deep ) cabinet, I was thinking to taking of the doors and adding grow lights, maybe a good spot?? I will send a pic soon. That bathroom has an open top shower so that should help, I could also put a few hanging plants in there too… thanks again!

    I keep my home around 55% and I don’t know that it’s enough to grow mold. I also keep good air flow to prevent mold…
