Hi all, a more advanced question for us planters: My plants are currently in glazed ceramic pots. I'm thinking about moving most of them to terracotta because it's more porous. 1) I'm curious if any of you have noticed your plants do better in terracotta pots, and 2) would the repotting be stressful for my plants IF I don't actually change out the soil (the roots wouldn't get exposed to air) or change the size of the pot?
I just recently repotted all of my babies into terracotta plants and the next day I did some research and found that not all plants like terracotta. So what I’ve learned is- Plants that like dry soil between watering love terracotta. It absorbs moisture very quickly. Plants that like moist soil won’t like it unless you’re frequently watering. So I’d imagine you c o u l d, you’d just have to adjust your watering schedule. Good luck!

좋아요 1개 I've never repotted my plants but have done some soil changes due to pests and fungi. Always goes well. I'm the kind of person who likes things matchy matchy, so I'd probably switch all pots to terracotta and adjust watering schedules. Would love to hear if you notice any changes! When was your repot?
0개 좋아요 I also need matchy matchy! Haha I did a repost about a week and a half ago. All seems good! I’m about to do a soil change on some of the repots because of mold and cat pee (little pink 😂). I’ll post progress in here in about three weeks!

I will normally put any epiphyte in terra cotta. I’ve had mixed outcomes with Hoya. Some don’t like to be too dry to too long and the terra cotta really leaches the moisture out of the growing medium. You may need to alter your watering frequency.
