Is anyone familiar with growing from tc (tissue culture)? Just won a couple at an online auction to see how it will go and I’m looking for any advice and tips you all might have. Did some research but I always prefer first hand knowledge. Thanks!
Tissue culture is really difficult because of all the special care that goes in to the initial setup for the plant where hundreds of tiny things could all go wrong and if any of them do the plant might die. Tissue cultures are grown in a 100% humidity environment with no external bacteria or fungus etc. When you get them you need to sanitize everything you’re working with, keep the plant extremely clean, remove ALL of the agar material the roots are in, and keep it as close to 100% humidity as possible in a cloche until the plant fully establishes. Once it’s acclimated and established to not being in tissue culture you can slowly start acclimating it to being a normal plant with the rest of them instead of a special plant in a super humidity environment

I have had both good and bad experience with tissue cultures. If you won the actual plantlets then it’s mostly just a matter of acclimation. Be patient and attentive that first month especially. Don’t rush. Keep it moist but don’t overwater. If you are researching you will probably be fine. When you pot it up do not use normal soil. Use just perlite or perlite with loose coir. Godspeed!
