I know there’s discourse over whether to cut an inflorescence or not but I’ve recently read it can disrupt the plant’s natural hormonal cycle if we cut them off and they also might try to produce another when it’s cut off so it could theoretically deplete the plant’s energy even more and disrupt it from producing more leaves quicker. This was research from LariAnn Garner who’s been creating and producing hybrids (like regal shields and dark star) of alocasias since the 70s and has degrees in plant biology and such! I thought it was really cool because I didn’t even know plants *had* hormones! Just thought I’d share 🥰 If there is conflicting research please let me know!

    Makes sense to me. I haven’t gotten any inflorescence in quite some time, but I do like to watch them grow and bloom. Thanks for sharing thoughts and research ☺️

      This comment was really dumb. I really love the bottomless amount of knowledge around growing something. I like that I have no knowledge of this subject but feel intrigued because it’s a mystery! Plants and hormones is something I’m going to think about forever ♾️ Thanks for posting this.
