I mentioned this in a comment, and then realized maybe I am the only one who stumbled onto this while in a plant ID frenzy a few years ago. Llifle (dot com) is an encyclopedic site of “living forms,” which means plants. While uber-educational, the pictures are what will fuel your lust and further your quest. You will identify your exact species of Lithops, and then wonder how to find one of the other 30 species. And, maybe most importantly for me, each species generally has a deep dive into soil conditions and oddball stuff such as “Copiapoa spend the mornings in fog.” That sort of thing blows up the “thrives in sun and part shade” mystery.
