Ooh! Are these new leaves coming in? And are the brown edges on the sheathes an issue at all?
Hello! I recently got my first monstera and had a couple of questions and I’m hoping someone here might have some insight. My first question is in regards to a root that is growing out of the pot. Initially, I thought it might turn into a leaf or something but it just keeps growing further out of the pot. Should I just cut it off or would it be best to keep letting it grow? You can see a picture of the root in one of the pictures. My second question is in regards to cutting leaves off the plant. As you can see in the pictures, most of the leaves are growing in a single direction towards my window. There is a single leaf that is kind of facing away from the window. Should I cut the lead that is facing away from the window off? I was thinking that maybe removing that leaf would provide more energy for the other leaves or maybe provide energy for another leaf to sprout that might be better positioned to get more sun. Thanks for any feedback!
Newest addition to the jungle!
New Albo leaf coming in!
Good Re- Pot today! Can’t wait to see more new growths
Hello friends! Looking for advice on my first ever monstera. I purchased this today at my local nursery. Got her home and noticed all these roots tangled up in the bottom of the pot as I was getting ready to repot. I did some untangling and was just curious on what I should do next. This plant has been on my wishlist for as long as I can remember, any advice to help her thrive would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Love the waxy green of a newly unfurled leaf!!! 💚 (plant in the back is fake lol)
Does anybody know what these are?? I’m waiting for this guy to grow more roots to replant. Any help is appreciated!
Hi, I’m new to plants and I just bought this beautiful monstera and was wondering what exactly I should do to make sure she lives her best life! Planning on getting a bigger pot of course but I’m not entirely sure how to repot😅🪴
My job had a forgotten monstera in a corner for almost a year. Leaves where turning yellow so I got some scissors and chop chop. Now I have this beauty.
UPDATE I got a pot with drainage and in hope it works out better!
I just received this precious monstera andasonii in a 4in plant. The roots are coming out of the bottom. Should I repot it or leave it for a couple weeks?
Help what are these brown spots on my Monstera??? Thanks in advance!
Showing off my new baby! I finally was able to get my hands on this gorgeous Thai Constellation from a local seller. I got this beauty for $170 and it is already well established with 7 beautifully marbled & fenestrated leaves. I'm so happy!
I recently got a monstera deliciosa and I saw something that looked really weird I am still trying to figure this plant out and recently a baby leaf died so I am a little concerned if anyone has any idea of what is going on (I have a lot of trouble with lighting and my pot dose not have draining holes) thank you
Brown spots on one of the smaller leaves of my monstera. Light is only there for the photo. Any idea what this is?
Out of curiosity.. does this pot look too big? I had a rough time wrangling the roots around but the surface looks so empty to me. It’s a 10” terracotta pot and I fear root rot and have nightmares about it lol
How short Can a monstera stub be to propegate also any tips on temp and where to place? Here is a picture of the two stubs currently in water.
Fenestrations - For all you monstera lovers out there.. the holes in the leaves are called fenestrations; deriving from the French word “fenêtre” which means “window”. The fenestrations are little windows you can see through which is often why the plant is referred to as monkey mask, as they can be peered through the same as a mask. Fun Fact: If someone said they defenestrated something.. it means they threw it out a window. 🤣
