Hey monstera enthusiasts. I just got a new Thai constellation yesterday from Home Depot, it’s my first ever monstera. It was shipped from out of state and was in a shipping box for about 5 days. Is there anything special I need to do for it to help it acclimate? I have it about a foot away from a vertical standing grow light at the moment and I’m wondering if that’s too much light too soon out of a dark box. I’m also wondering if I should repot right away or not. It’s currently in a medium I don’t recognize and I’m always wary of the soil at big box stores especially since they’re notorious for overwatering. I generally like to pot my aroids in Grow Queen’s Craft Aroid Mix because I’ve had a lot of success with it for philodendrons as well as non-aroid plants that require a breathable, chunky mix. The other reason I’m questioning repotting right away is because the back of the plant is pushed right up to the edge of the pot with no support. They did include a bamboo stick that’s pushed into the soil, but the placement doesn’t really make sense to me, it’s not really in a position where it’s doing anything to support the plant right now. All advice and care tips are welcome!

Hello. My name is John, I’m new to this group, and… I’ve been a Plantaholic since 2019. Anyway… Recently I found myself shaking to purchase a plant at discount prices. I slipped into a Home Depot Nursery while no one was looking and I began to look at all of the seasonal plants, and looking for any and all discounted plants. It was intoxicating as I found myself sitting on the floor looking at plants, touching each one, and putting them all back. That is until I came upon this water jar Monstera. It too was at ground level, deep in the back, as newer seasonal plants were all on top. And this monstera was 50% off. I may have had a plant induced blackout because the next thing I knew someone was saying “Sir. Do you need help?” as I was just sitting there on the ground & admiring this monstera. I pulled myself together and went to the register to pay for the plant. I carried him for 14 blocks until I reached where I’m living. Planter states that this is an advanced plant. It’s roots are clean and actually thirsty. I’m wondering how long I should leave it as a water-based plant and what problems I would encounter if I were to place it in a pot instead. Ultimately the glass pot with cork will be a forever piece of plant where that I’ll be able to have any plant in. Your thoughts? Should I just leave the Monstera in the water pot? I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and already the amount of sun daily is just too short of a day. Thank you

My top cut from April. Very low variegated Albo. Sits in the corner of my stairs, neglected, but very happy. Put out top 4 leaves since with another on its way.

Any advice to help my Monsterra get fuller? It got sun burnt a while back so that’s why some of the older leaves look bad but I’ve since learned my lesson the hard way lol. I’ve had this plant for a few years now - grown from a gifted cutting - and it’s always looked a little sparse. It does seem to be getting some good new growth so hoping it’s just a matter of waiting for those to fill in?

Bought a monstera from Ikea and instantly split them into 3 separate pots. Two with two plants and one with just one. I know it’s a risk when you first bring them home but had to get it into better soil mix. Anything to look out for? One of them has a big black spot and another has a small brown spot.

I’ve ditched the moss pole and upgraded to a trellis. This is so much better! I feel like I can really train it to grow in a much more pleasing way. Had to go up in size for the new pot. It was so hard to get it out of the old pot because the air roots that I had stuck back into the dirt had fused themselves to the inside of the pot! A couple of days after repotting, most of the leaves have all turned foward.

ADVICE PLEASE: I’ve had this Monstera for about 2 years and she has grown out great but she is looking a little wild. What is the best way to make her look better? Should I divide it up? The moss poles don’t really do anything for it😭

Hello. I got a monstera that ended up getting a really bad fungus gnat infestation so i broke the stems up and completely changed out the soil. The separate stems seem to be going south so I wanted to see if the experts on here has any advice before it’s too late. My concerns being the yellow leaves and black on the biggest leaf in the last image. I’m trying to dry them out because of the previous gnats so the soil is quite dry.
