Hi everyone! I have a monstera prop in water. Some roots have formed but it noticed just now that it looks like this. I’ve never seen that happen. I changed the water about 5 days ago. It doesn’t smell like rot and it’s not squishy. The black part is still firm. What should I do?
I’m not sure what this is but since it’s firm maybe it’s more related to the water. Have you tried spraying with rubbing alcohol? I spray the glass of my monsetra water props with alcohol after cleaning and before replacing water
0 J'aimeNo I never did that, I only spray down the roots with hydrogen peroxide. I figured since I use hot water and soap to clean the glass, it would lift and kill any bacteria.

3 J'aimeNice! Looks like the leaf sheath which usually dies off eventually anyway, being water logged must be accelerating the process.

I would just pull it up so it is not fully submerged
