What do the roots look like? If you're not seeing a pests. It may be root rot.

Hey Wolfen, the roots are brown… not sure if that helps

Are they soft and mushy or firm?

      They’re firm.

I would clip all the all the way brown leaves. pull it out of the pot, rinse the roots off, remove ananything that is super soft or mushy (this could mean you almost have none), spray or douse them down with a solution of 1 part hydrogen peroxide 3 parts water. And then repot in dry soil

Since the roots feel firm, that's good!

Then I'd just look at your watering schedule. I water mine every 14-20 days. I have a humid house. And then also sun and air circulation.

If you’re repotting, I’d check to see how big the root “ball” is. If the pot is more than 2 inches bigger (in height and diameter) than the “ball” it might be too big. Also, are the lighter brown chunks in your soil leca, or clay balls?

If it’s leca, the soil could be holding onto more water than the plants’ roots want and it’s not drying out enough between watering. I don’t think it’s technically wrong to have in your soil, but I don’t think it’s a common practice to mix in with monsteras. I haven’t seen it often at least. When leca is used by itself, the space between the balls gives the roots air to breathe while the clay holds in water to release slowly, which is a form of semi-hydroponics (the middle ground between growing plants in pure soil and pure water). I would consider semi-hydro a step up in difficulty compared to growing in soil. Again, it’s not wrong, but it’s a bit more difficult growing “soil” and this being your first plant it could be complicating the watering process more than you need.
