Show me the Greens!

Hi Maniacs! ❤️‍🔥 Some questions about my monstera adon: I think I may have had it in too direct of sun a few weeks ago and it got crispy brown edges. It has since grown new leaves. Should I leave the browned leaves or cut them (at the base?)? It doesn’t hold water when I do water and feed it. Is that a sign that it needs repotting? I wondering if it needs something to climb up? Thanks for your help!

sounds like you need higher humidity & maybe a repot — you could try bottom watering too. I had mine in a south facing for a while and it didn’t turn crispy like this — instead some of the leaves bleached until it adjusted. that’s making me think this is more about humidity east or west facing windows are best for these guys (mine is in west now) and hiiiiiigh humidity. a hand held steamer for clothes is a good option if you don’t want to run a humidifier all the time

They love bright indirect light, high humidity, I mist mine 2-3 times a week. Depending on the weather. I add just a tad of liquid fertilizer. Or if gnat problems I add a tad of Neem oil. Misting also help remove dust so plants can photosynthesis properly. They LOVE to be babied!

Wow! Looks gorgeous. Thanks for the tips. I have started bottom watering which has probably helped.

I do not recommend misting — it opens you up to fungal & bacterial issues

Yes! There are both sides of this issue. But in their native habitat they get misted on daily. Most tropical plants do. Misting isn’t soaking the plant foliage it’s getting it lightly misted.

Less airflow indoors than out in their native habitat so you can run into issues — it’s working for you though, evidently! 😊

Great point! Airflow is one I learned the hard way. Even if it’s a ceiling fan. And if you do not want to mist. Get a humidifier. All your plants will love you for that!

I have a lot of fun with a little handheld steamer for clothing to give my humidity lovers a little hit once in a while 😅
