Chunky soil (coco coir, orchid bark, coarse perlite, fox farm soil) , water when almost dry and high humidity. I had a HUGE one last year until it got thrips and it was one of the plants I lost. I have two small ones now. Decide if you want them to trail or climb. If climbing, give it a moss pole.
2 Me gustaIn my last flat, my adansonii got too cold (on an exposed windowsill) and didnāt have enough light so lost all its leaves. I chopped and propped before I moved, hoping to save some of it. The main cutting is now thriving on a partially sunny bathroom windowsill. Itās nearly a metre high and has grown 20cm in the past 3 weeks with massive leaves. Itās loving the regular humidity in the air from showers. I water it mainly to Plantaās schedule, sometimes a little late. I donāt think theyāre hard to keep alive, as long as the temperatures arenāt extreme and they have enough light, humidity and they arenāt overwatered. Oh, and when it outgrew its support, I bought metal curtain rings to make a chain for it to climb up in the window. My new favourite way to help my plants climb āŗļø
1 me gustaI donāt feel like theyāre super difficult to care for as long as they donāt get overwatered and are getting enough light. Since monsteras in general are prone to root rot, they need a very chunky soil, and I let mine dry out completely between waterings. They also prefer bright indirect light.
2 Me gustaThey have lots of places for pests to hide! Spider mites and thrips LOVE these plants. I had to almost completely chop mine this past spring due to spider mites. Itās coming back beautifully. Let that soil dry out like 75-90% before watering and fertilize!!!
1 me gustaI use really chunky soil (my own mix), water when just about fully dry, bright indirect light, and I gave mine something to climb up. Oh, and they love humidity! I keep a humidifier in the room.
