Hiii I’m new to the plant family. This is my baby Rasputia I’ve had her for about a month I just repotted 2 days ago and I’m so afraid of her going into shock. Any tips??

    My tip is dont be too worried about her going into shock. More than likely, it will happen and the plant will be fine in the long run. If it isn’t drooping already, you’re probably gonna be fine. Just be careful not to overwater it. Based on the picture, it looks like you picked the right next pot size. Keep in mind that the soil will stay wet longer than it was before the repot because the roots haven’t grown into the new soil yet.

      Thank you!! I haven’t noticed any drooping, and I actually have a new leaf coming in, so fingers crossed the repotting doesn’t stress it out. I used a mix of orchid bark, charcoal, perlite, and indoor potting soil. When do you think I should water next?

    That’s a great potting mix! I’d recommend waiting until the top layer of soil is dry to water next. There are so many variables that it’s hard to say exactly how long between watering. Definitely do not blindly trust the schedule Planta recommends either. It does a good job in general, but you still need to confirm that the soil is dry before watering. If soil never dries out most plants will get root rot

    Monsteras are incredibly resilient. I recommend getting a moisture meter (they’re like $10) so it’s easier to know if the soil is still moist or not. Sometimes the top soil will be dry but their feet will be wet, aroids sometimes don’t like wet feet. Since it looks like a dense soil, you’ll most likely see it won’t need watering as often! Def get a moisture meter though, it has made my life easier!

      ^^this! I have moisture meters in both my monsteras and it’s been a life saver! One I almost killed due to root rot and she is now thriving and pushed out a leaf😊

    Moisture meter is a good idea too! I personally do not prefer them because I have enough experience that I don’t find it helpful anymore. I’m not a good representation of a normal amount of experience with plant care though. I worked in greenhouses doing plant care for several years and then got a PhD in Molecular plant sciences lol
