🚨HELP🚨 my beautiful albino Monstera. I got probably three weeks ago has started browning on the white parts and as I have never owned any variegated Monstera, I don’t know if this is normal. I went away on a 10 day vacation and came back in. Her soil was still wet, so I ordered soil to change her into chunky soil from her original soil and to let her acclimate, but in the meantime, she has begun to Brown it started off just her leaves turning translucent with a brown tint and now she’s actually browning the other leaf that is partially white is beginning to turn clear on the outer edges and I’m pretty sure that’s normal but I feel like that’s how this other leaf started. she has been consistently getting around eight hours of sunlight maybe 12 I forget what I have the timer set on and was in bright direct light during that time. she does have a new leaflet coming out, so I’m wondering if maybe it’s because of that?!? I just don’t want this gorgeous leaf to die and I fear that it’s too far gone

Browning could mean a few things, mainly either sunburnt with lighter leaves like these or in your case maybe stress from repotting it! It’ll take some time for her to bounce back, the browning I fear may not stop. So check your distance from the lighting, keep humidity consistent with watering. New leaves won’t show the browning, so just be patient:) don’t cut the leaves off unless the majority is dying, it’ll still help produce energy for the plant

I haven’t reported her yet, but I watered her before going out of town and her soil is still wet so I think I do need to report her once I get my soil that’s in the mail! Since I have her under a grow light, I was thinking about lowering the intensity of the light and keeping the light on her for less time?

Yeahhh if the soil is about the same as it was when you left it could be experiencing some root rot :( I have fans blowing to help wick moisture

I had some browning on my Thai constellation plant, initially ended up being it was too far from any light and the browning stopped

What’s your ambient temperature? 10 days and the soil is still wet during summer seems like too much water to me. Albos also need extra light as well. I give mine roughly 15 hours cause the white sections do not photosynthesis. I also add silica to every watering to help it strengthen and maintain that white. It also needs a good amount of humidity.

Super helpful! My ambient temp is around 74 and I knowšŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I’ve had her for about a month and have been gone for a week and a half and came back to the soil wet still and the brown leaf😢 I ordered new soil- the nice nice stuff and I’m gonna mix it with orchid mix and Perlite but idk what ratios to do I have to look more into that first. I haven’t heard of adding silica before but have recently with people talking about monstera’s! Can you get it in stores? And I have a diffuser next to it, but haven’t been using it, which I do need to do

So do you add it into the water or into the soil? Cause I’ve seen people have the crystals, is that crystals to that you add to the water or is it different?

This one is a liquid. I add 3ml directly to a gallon of water.
