Hello I moved into a new apartment and my roommate has this sad looking monstera…any tips what to do with it/how to help it? I feel like it needs a trim but I have never pruned a monstera so idk where to start or how to do that

LeafyGreenhouseHere’s what I would do 1- cut off the yellow/ dead leaves 2 repot with chunky soil and a new pot as it’s likely very rootbound 3- when repotting if there is multiple different stems/ plants I would separate them 4 - get rid of the moss pole as it’s not doing anything for the plant (unless the plant is bound to it) 5 - water every week and In about a month I would recommend fertilizing (also I would recommend a humidifier but I know that’s a little extra for an apartment)

Amateur plant mamaI agree with LeafyGreenhouse what's the lighting situation like? They love light I have mine in a southern window about 2.5 feet back to avoid burns.

Cindy BransonI would say prune away! My monsteras are monsters! Trim it as prescribed above and if you’d like you can propagate healthy leaves to start new babies. Don’t wait too long to do the cutting you plan, monsteras really like light and in winter darkness they don’t thrive like they do when there’s more daylight. We cut this one all the way back and split the roots with four other pots.
