Hello all, new to this app and looking for some advice regarding Monstera’s. I have a baby monstera deliciosa in the bathroom which appears to be doing well- new leaves unfurling and good growth. Recently got the Albo variegated too. As this one is located in my hallway with only 2 panels of vertical glass on my front door (west facing) for light, I added a grow light today as the plant is around 6ft from the door windows. Will this help get the light it needs better? For both plants, is following the default care instructions from Planta a good idea, or should I create a custom one (for just the Alba or both?) I’m new to these types of plants, so any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    hi! yes, a grow light will help supplement the lighting needs of your monsteras :) i would definately use planta as only a reminder to go check and see if your plants need water - the app cant possibly know all the factors that play into how slowly or quickly the soil dries out. you can use a wooden chopstick, skewer, etc to check the moisture level. stick it all the way into the pot, and wait a few minutes. when you take it out, i like to grab it right where the soil line is, and if you have more then half of the stick covered in wet soil, you can wait to water. if its more than halfway dry, give it a drink! also, albo's variegation isnt stable, so if it reverts to green, increase light and chop back to where the last leaf had variagation. also, any white part of a leaf is prone to browning, as theres no chlorophyll, which makes it more sensitive than the rest of the plant. watering with silica is supposed to help keep the white from browning. good luck!!

      Thank you so much. I’ll definitely keep a closer eye on the albo. I’m assuming the grow light will probably dry it out a little faster so will use the skewer to keep an eye out. I’ll grab some silica too. Thank you again for the fab advice.
