Hi everyone I need some help from more experienced monstera owners! I got this one back in September 2023 when it was only 1 ft tall and now it’s around 4.5 ft. It was pretty full (4th photo) until I moved to a place with a colder climate about 1 year ago. The bottom leaves (which were mature and had fenestrations) became fully yellow so I had to chop them off :( Now it’s very top-heavy and I’m not sure if I should cut some of the top leaves and repot them near the base or wait and see. The newest leaves are a nice dark green color (3rd photo) so I’m scared to touch them! For context, it sits in front of a north facing window and gets some direct sunlight from a west facing window about 12 feet away. I had an overwatering problem (which can explain the yellowing/browning tips) but I’ve been working on fixing that for the last few months. Now I’m just hoping to get things bushier and back to how it used to look like, if that’s even possible.

    Mine has become very top heavier as well. I do have some growth coming out of the bottom, but I recommend you when you feel comfortable rooting and repotting from top to the bottom to refill and regrow.

    You could try keiki paste to encourage new leaves to grow from old dormant nodes on the bottom of the plant. Full disclosure, I’ve used this product a lot and I feel like it works maybe 30-50% of the time 😅 although that could be something I’m doing wrong. Otherwise, I believe the only way to get it full on the bottom again would be to do what you said about propagating some top leaves and then repotting them near the base. Cutting some off the top will also probably encourage new growth points on the bottom.
