Hi all! This is my first monstera and I’m unsure of how to best support her as she grows. I got her about 3 weeks ago. Yesterday I decided to add a support pole for her (I don’t like it and plan to change it eventually but figured this will at least help start training her to grow up in the direction I want her to) so here’s where I need help. It looks like she has at least three main stems and they all face a slightly different direction. I’d like to try to get her to face one way or at least look like she’s mostly facing one way. I was able to get all 3 main stems gently attached to the support. But would it be better to get a wider more trellis style support OR should I repot her and try to separate into 3 plants? (Yes she has a grow light and is near a window, the window is northeast and doesn’t get any direct light and is shaded by the house next door and our garage so not enough light without the grow light)

    best option is to separate. it's very difficult to stake 3 stems in one pot, you'll also get the best results if you separate.

      Thank you!! This is what my gut was telling me but I figured better safe than sorry!! Haha Is it best to let the soil dry out before separating and repotting? Or still a little moist?

      let it dry. honestly just wait for that leaf like ABagel said, that's the only real concern

    I agree with plantgeek. See one of my monsteras on my balcony to find out what happens if you don’t separate and support earlier on. Personally I would wait until that new leaf is fully unfurled before separating.

      Thank you!! This is what I was leaning towards doing as soon as that new leaf was fully open but wanted to check with more experienced people rather than going off my gut instinct 🤣 it usually never leads me astray but she’s so pretty I don’t wanna hurt her lol I’ve never repotted a monstera before (obviously with this being my first one lol also how lucky am I that my first is turning into 3?! 🥰) but is it best to let the soil dry out first? Or still a little moist?

      I would wait for after unfurling/your watering day to separate so they all get a nice drink of water after “surgery.” ☺️
