Howdy plant people! This is my first monstera I’ve gotten from a clearance rack as part of an anniversary gift! Any tips? I haven’t touched him at all yet, just brought him home and am waiting for his soil to dry out a bit before giving him a chunkier mix! I’m a bit concerned his new leaf is already drooping so much. I’ve always been scared to get one because we live in Colorado and in a pretty dim house so any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks :)
Here is a care list! Monstera Thai constellation (variegated Swiss cheese plant) Light - bright indirect (grow light is highly recommend) Watering - twice a week if soil is mostly dry (very sensitive to overwatering) Soil - highly recommend repotting in a chunky soil mix Fertilizer- wait about a month or so before fertilizing but when you do use a light fertilizer for houseplants Humidity- needs to be 60-70% (highly recommend humidifier) Propagation - always propagate in areas with nodes , let dry out overnight and then place in water roots should start growing in a week or less. Leaf damage - brown spots are the most common check your plant’s roots for rot, if none seen it could be old damage ( a more common color for old damage is a dry brown color that isn’t soft to the touch) variegated parts will spread the brown color if you do not like this carefully cut around the part of the leaf that is brown or cut off the leaf entirely. Support - moss poles are the most common but there is many other options

You should give it at least a few days to acclimate to your home before you repot it but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if you can’t wait. Technically 2-3 weeks is best to repot after getting it home but I’m not that patient with bad soil so I wait a few days. If you don’t wait it won’t be the end of the world but it will just stress the plant a little more and slowly lose growth for a couple weeks

Very bright indirect light, so right up next to your window or provide a grow light 12-18 inches away. I use a Birina T10 floor light for mine. Only water when soil is dried out two to three inches when you stick your finger down in the soil. Use a chunky soil mix, I use Grow Queen Aroid Mix off Amazon for my monstera and they seem to like it. Only jump pot sizes two inches bigger than the current pot. If your soil is staying wet longer than you thought and your leaves seem droopy, just go ahead and repot it to check for root rot, they sometimes come home from the store with it. If you see black mushy roots, cut them off and spray with 3% hydrogen peroxide and repot with better soil into the same size pot. Good luck! If it doesn't seem like its recovering just give it a week or two. But you can always take a top chop and propagate to start the plant over if all else fails.
