Is the dreaded ‘root rot’ on my Thai Con?? I’ve had her for about a month and started to get brown/yellow edges on her leaves. When I removed her from the nursery pot, it was a mixture of well draining soil with leca on the bottom.

It looks like some root rot, but NOT a lost cause!! I would cut off any root that squish between your fingers. Then I like to dip the remaining roots in a 1 to 1 ratio of lukewarm water and household hydrogen peroxide (3% strength). Give it about a minute and then rinse under lukewarm water. Then pot it back up. I only water my Thai con when the soil is totally dry to the touch. As if it’s a succulent When you say a layer of leca in the bottom, is that in addition to a drainage hole or instead of a drainage hole?

There are drainage holes in the nursery pot but there’s also a layer leca in the very bottom. I’m assuming to speed drainage or retain some moisture (?)

Oh okay. That’s okay then. I like leca as an addition, but it can’t really replace the function of a drainage hole in most cases. In my opinion. Sounds like you’ve got a good setup then 👍

No soil. just grow it in leca, its hard to have a root rot issue in + Less bug infestations as well
