Why is this happening? 😭💔 will the leaf hurt the cutting? The end of the aerial root is starting to rot now

Your plant can’t focus energy on both a new leaf and growing roots. It’s best to propagate your plants after a new leaf has hardened off a little. Usually this is about 3-5 days after it’s unfurled. If you have any rooting hormone you can add a little to the water and it will help root growth! Sending good growth vibes your way!

The cutting came in the mail with that leaf, I’m not concerned about it growing at this moment but I’m wondering if the black tip will damage the rest of the cutting as the black is growing

Why would the tip of the aerial root be rotting? It doesn’t touch anything and has a bubbler. Will cutting that off hurt the root growth?

I wouldn’t cut off the entire thing, I would go back to where those secondary roots are and sanitize it… give it the chance to get those roots going.

You’re welcome, I hope this goes well for you! If you have any rooting hormone, I would add a little to help give her that little oomph! She may need. You can also add some of that 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water (not a lot) to help fight the bacteria. But make sure you use it for sure when you cut!! Otherwise you’re just making a new injury and re introducing that bacteria! Happy planting and I hope you see a lot of growth! 🤍🤍🤍

Should I let it callus before going back in water?
