I finally checked my air layering pods (2 of the 4 have amazing root systems and the other two failed utterly) and did a complete chop & prop of this huge monstera that is 27 years old. Now I have questions! 1. Is it okay to leave the moss that’s embedded in the root balls and eventually just plant them as is? It’s very tightly wound in there in some places. 2. Do I need to let all of them callous over before doing anything else? 3. Can I leave them all in water for a few weeks while I arrange a better pot system for them, and do I need to add anything to the water (I have Clonex and some root hormone, as well as just plain plant food)? 4. Best large pots with drainage (bonus points for Canada)?

    I would loosen/trim the roots and remove a lot of the moss. It may hold onto too much moisture and prevent air flow causing rot. I guess if you're repotting into a very chunky aroid mix, some moss might be ok. You won't need to let them callous over. They should be ok in water, I have a prop that's been set up in leca for months and is doing awesome. I found decent 6 quart(?) pots at Menards (are they in Canada) 😀
