This little guy just doesn’t want to seem to grow. He’s in chunky soil, near a humidifier, and a grow light. Any tips and tricks to get this little dude to thrive and maybe think about a new leaf?

Every time I have issues I take it out of the soil and put the roots in water. It may be an issue with the roots so I would try that at least and let it grow in there for a little

The last time I tried to go dirt to water everything died. I killed an alocasia and stunted a deliciousa - I’m super apprehensive about moving to water and I don’t understand leca and perlite water tables enough

Oh interesting. Either way I would probably check the roots. The leaves look a little floppy and if it hasn’t been growing then that + lack of nutrients could probably be it

Not sure what I am seeing- Is the most recent leaf that it put out all white? My understanding with all white leaves is that it is a major problem and means it might not grow any more…? Please anyone correct me if I am wrong. But with no growth I would 1) check the roots 2) add a fertilizer 3) give it more light. So if near a grow light move the light a bit closer. I believe that within 10-12 hours inches of the tallest leaf is best? Again, correct me if I am wrong. For fertilizer I use one that I put in each watering and my plants are beyond happy with the change. My monstera’s are putting out new leaves 2-3 times a month. It’s a little nuts. But- it is spring so this level of growth is expected. Also- I basically NEVER fertilized anything although all before, so there is that.

I have no idea. This is how I got the plant. Exactly as you see it for about 10 weeks now. I’ll try moving it into a more enclosed space with a lower light. Might give it less chunky chunky soil to see if that helps.

Like others have said this looks like a root issue. Did this cutting have strong roots when you potted it? You gotta get it out of the soil and see what’s going on. Chunky soil should be just right for it

I’ve had some success with immature, delicate plants by creating a “greenhouse”. My albo is in one now, my starter colcasia mojito is thriving as is my strawberry shake and philodendron warscewiczii. I started with big plastic jar that cheez balls come in for the smaller guys and from Amazon clear bag/shoe storage boxes. So far so good.

I moved him to my ikea table top cabinet. I thought he would like being with all that other monsteras.

I was recommended “Fluval Stratum Propagation” in a clear cup by someone on a different community and it’s already showing improvements for my Alocasia Maxkowskii and Alocasia Bagindas. I would just clean the roots in a cup of: • 1/3 - Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) • 2/3 - Distilled Water * Let soak for 10 minutes The Fluval will create a “reservoir” area where there roots are not touching and that’s about to where you want to keep it filled up to.
