Hello! Completely by chance, I received a cutting of a Monstera (I think Deliciosa but this one is young still) by finding it on the floor of a Whole Foods earlier tonight lol. It was completely by itself, donā€™t know how it got separated from its plant, but I took it home and am wondering what the best course of action is to help root it and survive as a cutting. Do I just put it in a vase with only water and see if it grows roots? Do I add some type of fertilizer? What do you guys recommend? Thank you in advance, Iā€™m so excited!!!

    i would either propagate in water until roots form or place in soil and keep it moist but not soaking and let it do its thing! I have never left them overnight to callous but thats something I know others do

    I truly donā€™t know the best way as I have been trying to root a Monstera chunk for months. Down to my last node. Donā€™t think itā€™s easy. šŸ˜šŸ˜¢

    Iā€™ve had a lot of luck rotting monstera cuttings in water beads or ā€œorbeez.ā€ Just make sure they donā€™t go down the drain!

    I have successfully propagated two monstera cuttings in waterā€¦ Iā€™ve used rooting hormone on both and it pretty much just floats to the top but Iā€™ve gotten roots within a month. It takes a lot of patience, but you can do it! I just change out the water every once in a while.

    Based on the size of the cutting, Iā€™d put it in a mason jar with water about three inches above the node

    Just water and maybe a rooting hormone! If you want to be fancy put it in some spaghnum moss, but I think youā€™d have better luck with water.
