It almost looks like a liquid was dropped on to the leaf... I would say it's some kind of pest as that's the more logical explanation but if it's definitely not, could something have gotten on it?

No nothing has gotten on it. I don’t even use sink water to water my plants anymore. I whip them weekly to be free of any dust etc I check for pest and there fine

    Perhaps a fungal infection.

Just dealt with this. It’s a fungal infection and will continue to develop. If your leaf is damaged extensively like mine, I cut it off at the base to prevent it from spreading. Mine started like yours then progressed to the photo attached. I had it near a humidifier which seemed to speed up the damage caused significantly. I had another leaf that started to develop the infection but I simply cut away that section on the leaf instead of the entire leaf and stem. Afterwards, I wiped down all of the leaves with neem oil and water mix. It’s been a week and my monstera is doing just fine.

So I should cut that whole leaf off? Or the whole stem along with the leaf?

The damage looks small enough to just cut off the areas impacted on the leaf. I’d try to cut it in a way that keeps the natural shape of the leaf as much as possible
