   probably nothing serious, sometimes things bump them and the skin scrapes off, making the tissue underneath dry out and shrivel. just cut off the whole root if you're worried, but if it's not spreading you can leave it

   Is the moss pole dry?

     Looks like a cococoir pole, not moss, but I could be wrong

   If that window had direct sunlight sitting on the aerial root that could have been enough to have dried it out

     Thank you! I have moved the plant to a spot with indirect bright light. It was getting direct t afternoon sun

     You don’t have to fully relocate unless the leaves are showing stress, the aerial roots are just much more sensitive to light when they’re forming and will dry like that. You can just put some paper between the window and any aerial roots to provide enough shade
