Yellowing leaves? This was a perfect plant when I bought it the first… | Monstera Maniacs | Planta-fællesskab

Yellowing leaves? This was a perfect plant when I bought it the first of January. I have watered according to directions, although I did water a couple days earlier because it was droopy and dry. I am using a 12 hour grow light since it is in a corner beside a window and doesn’t get much natural light. I have picked off 4 yellow leaves so far and I see two more ! The last pic is the day I brought it home. No signs of yellow. Help!!

No, I haven’t pulled it out, but nothing is coming out from the bottom. The day I bought it - it was literally delivered seconds before I picked it up so it was brand new from the greenhouse. I wonder if it’s humidity issue? It’s cold and dry here lately.

If you’re able to, I would add a humidifier near it. They love humidity especially in the winter! Also I would pull it out and check the roots/soil. It may need a little fresh soil. Poking the soil with a chop stick will help loosen the soil a bit and aerate it for when you water. And water until you see water come out the bottom.

How many times have you watered it since you got it? And how many days in between? I find with monstera adansonii they always yellow leaves during the winter a lot more due to there being less light so it needs more time in between waterings, but you mentioned yours was looking droopy and dry so it may have been a little too long in between waterings. I’ve waited a little too long to water mine on a couple of occasions and got several yellow leaves, it kinda shocks the plant I think. I’ve been using the planta app for 4.5 years now and I find that following the schedule it provides exactly how it is sometimes doesn’t work because different factors (light, humidity, location etc) in your home can affect your watering schedule. I use it more as a guideline/reminder of when I watered last and I always check the plant before watering and if it’s not ready I just reschedule the task. As this plant lives in your home you’ll figure out the timing better, lots of trial and error 😄

I 100% agree with everything AlexB said. Do you have a water meter? You can get them fairly cheap on Amazon. Temperature and humidity can be an issue, maybe move the plant to a new location
