Hey, it’s me again! I was watering my girl today. When I noticed she has gnats, is it the soil or am i overthinking it? Or how do you suggest getting rid of them? Thanks in advance!

    I would try putting perlite over the top layer. Then the gnats cant lay there eggs on the soil. I think that’s how it works. The perlite could go green so you could use succulent topper grit, the decorative stuff. I haven’t tried them myself but apparently the sticky traps are meant to work for catching them.

    I recommend Mosquito Bits. They’re inexpensive, effective, safe. They kill fungus gnat larvae. You use the granules to make a “tea”, strain the granules after 30 minutes, and water with the solution. I like to use it in tandem with the yellow sticky traps. 1. They catch the adults that the mosquito bits don’t kill. 2. They are a good gauge of the problem/infestation. I write the date on the sticky and change them regularly. When the sticky traps are empty or only have 1-2 gnats, I know I’m winning the bug battle. When the traps have multiple gnats I know it’s time for another treatment. Zevo light traps are a little more expensive than those options but also effective. It’s a plug in that uses light to attract gnats to the attached sticky trap. Consider treating all of your plants around the same time.

      I second this. I do these exact things, mosquito bit tea, sticky traps and the zevo light. Its a constant routine, but it works 🙂

    Mosquito bits are the miracle plant care item! I haven’t had gnats since I began using it. I use them with every single watering. If you have a habit of overwatering or using dense soil it won’t get rid of all of them but it is the only thing I’ve found and it works like a miracle!! Godspeed! 💚💚

    I spray the soil of my monstera with 70% alcohol after stirring up the top layer. I haven’t had issues since. I do it like once a week.

    Don’t mess around with random solutions. Order mosquito bits and fish tank filter bags that zip. Pour the recommended amount in the filter bag and let it brew over night. Water your plants in the morning. Get the yellow traps to collect the fliers. Do this for your normal watering for a few weeks. I also have a Zevo plug in. I had them defeated for at least 6 months and now I am back catching a few this summer again. I think they came from outside.

    We the wild Anti-gnat concentrate was recommended in another group on here. I have never tried it but plan too! Suppose to be able to get it from Target.

      Came here to say this! We the Wild Anti-Gnat Concentrate is a savior if you have gnats. I get it from my local nursery but Target does carry it! Mosquito Bits tea works 100% as a treatment as well, but I wanted something I could use as soon as I got home. Either of these plus a Zevo and you’ll be good to go.
