Hi everyone! I got a Monstera adansonii a couple weeks ago and it was doing great. But lately, I’ve been seeing mold on the soil. I’ve removed it and added cinnamon, but it keeps coming back. It’s been raining a lot, so I moved it to the front of my house for more sunlight. It used to get partial sun, but now it gets full sun most of the day. It’s in chunky soil, a plastic pot with drainage, and surrounded by other plants. Also noticed a couple bottom leaves turned black and fell off. Could this be from too much rain, sun, or the move? Any tips would help—thanks! (The picture isn’t current since it’s midnight, but I can add an updated one if needed.)

First question would be how often are you watering? Also they love bright light but I think they prefer more indirect or filtered light over direct sun all day except for morning light they do like the morning direct light in the early morning especially. Otherwise they should love heat and humidity. Mold sounds like it might be very wet soil? To treat you can spray with a mixture of neem oil and water with a little drop off dish soap. You mix it up in a spray bottle.

Thanks! I’ve been watering it about every 5 days, following the Planta app’s schedule. I also log any rain so the app can adjust the watering days. That said, it’s rained about 5 out of the last 7 days—the first day being right after I had already watered them.

Ok it sounds like it's getting way too much water. I would not water in addition to rain or is would keep it out of the rain and just water it when it's actually dry. You need to use your finger to check. Only water when the top couple inches are truly dry and crumbly just the top couple inches. Below it can feel just a little warm and damp

I struggle with the finger test method- may be worth springing the $10 for a water meter. Super helpful to be able to snooze watering in the app. Also, check that your drainage holes are actually draining. Sometimes they can get clogged after heavy rain compacts the soil so water may not be draining through as easily as it should be
