Ahhhh!!! My largest, most beautiful Monstera Deliciosa leaf broke off this morning. My fault entirely. To be fair I bought this plant from Walmart and that leaf has hanging on by a thread. Most of the cut was already hardened over. Can I propagate the leaf? Would should I do about the stem that is left on the plant? I assume I should cut it off? I know the plant is a bit of a mess, I recently added a moss pole and I repotted it in chunky soil (it came in pure coco coir).

If it’s just the leaf you most likely will not be able to propagate it since it would need a node to grow, I suggest trimming the stem since nothing new will grow off of it, I would love to see the plant more fully to get a better idea of its condition but based on the info I have that’s what I suggest, sorry that happened leaves being damaged always upsets me too, don’t beat yourself up over it if it really was already damaged it would have happened sooner rather than later. ❤️

Thanks for your input. Hopefully these pics are better. The one light green leaf unfurled not long after I got the plant and it’s always looked a little wonky.

They all look pretty healthy, if you want them to grow more up instead of out I would suggest a grow light but either way the plant should be healthy!

I wouldn’t cut the stem all the way down. I had a stem like this a while back and I cut it down to that little lip where it looks like there might be new growth. Eventually a new leaf grew from the cut stem!

To be safe just leave the stem alone if you’re not confident where to cut it. there can be new grow from this stem.
