Hello everyone! Iām new to this group because Iāve wanted one of these for a long time and I finally scored one on discount at Walmart! Would love to know some tips to taking care of her and what to do about the wilting leaves? Iāve seen people cut them and other people despise the leaves being cut. Thank you in advance! Oh and I will be repotting her bc her roots are sticking out
you don't have to nor are you not allowed to cut the leaves, just know that if you do, the plant's overall growth may stall for a moment. if you're not willing to cut the whole thing off but don't like how it looks crispy, just cut the dead off and keep the live tissue. repot into a chunkier mix, add in a handful of perlite and a handful of orchid bark. i recommend terracotta for these as well, they're prone to rot. get it something to climbā despite the praises of many online, moss poles are not necessary at all. it just needs something tall and heavy enough to support it's weight. mine grows on a wooden pole.

Here is a care list also donāt repot just because the roots are sticking out monsteras enjoy being in smaller pots ! Monstera Thai constellation Light - bright indirect Watering - twice a week if soil is mostly dry (very sensitive to overwatering) Soil - highly recommend repotting in a chunky soil mix Fertilizer- wait about a month or so before fertilizing but when you do use a light fertilizer for houseplants Humidity- needs to be 60-70% (highly recommend humidifier) Propagation - always propagate in areas with nodes , let dry out overnight and then place in water roots should start growing in a week or less. Leaf damage - brown spots are the most common check your plantās roots for rot, if none seen it could be old damage ( a more common color for old damage is a dry brown color that isnāt soft to the touch) variegated parts will spread the brown color if you do not like this carefully cut around the part of the leaf that is brown or cut off the leaf entirely. Support - moss pole, or wooden pole are the most frequently used/recommended

I leave the starter leaves as long as it seems they are helpful for photosynthesis. If it has plenty of other mature leaves and they seem a little unsightly, then I snip them back.

Some other extra stuff that can be helpful: - I recommend repotting in a clear planter so you can see the roots and itās also easier to see when it needs water or a repot. - Donāt need to repot often. It likes its roots to be snug in their pots so only repot if there are roots growing out of the drainage holes or coiling around - Itās better to underwater it than overwatering so always check the soil before watering. Watering usually depends on the soil and pot u have it planted in, how much roots it has, humidity, and the light it gets, so it varies a lot. Mine likes to be watered when the top half of the soil is dry, and itās usually around every 10 days. - If you want to make your own chunky mix, an easy ratio is 1:1:1 of potting soil, perlite, orchid bark and then whatever other stuff you want to toss in. - Place a tall stick/plank/support on the back of the plant where the aerial roots are. - Fertilize it when itās growing. If you donāt like remembering fertilizing schedules for multiple different plants, I typical mix 1/4 or 1/2 of the recommended dose and use that for every watering - clean/wipe off dust on the leaves monthly or whenever u see dust accumulating - propagations are safer and fastest when it has an aerial root
