Need some advice on my monstera. I got her at a big box store last spring and she’s never been repotted. The nursery pot is sitting on a pedestal inside this ceramic pot. She’s thriving in this spot and I’ve been afraid to do anything, have two new leaves this week. There are at least 5 plants in this pot, and there are a ton of roots coming out the bottom. I had fed some of the aerial roots into the lower pot and those have grown as well. Where do I start? Is winter a bad time to repot in San Diego? Do I have to divide these plants? I was planning on adding supports when I repotted.

If it’s thriving I would leave it be til the weather warms up

It won't matter if you repot now. You could just repot bigger, or split it up, won't make a difference. I usually have 4-6 plants in a 1.5-2gal pot, they do fine with it. It will get a lot bigger if you give it some structure or moss pole to climb on. They love it.

As long as the plant is actively growing you can repot it, if you want you can stake it with a trellis but if you let it crawl it could become top heavy so just get a heavy pot if that’s what you want to do and make sure it’s in a well draining soil when repotting with orchid bark.
