Helppp I’m new to the monstera game, I was gifted this cute little thing but I don’t think I’m taking care of it right😬

      I am new to Monstera but from the research I have done, many people recommend a three part mix: equal parts good potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark. I used this mix for my two new plants, and they seem to like it thus far.

    Looks like root rot. The soil looks dense, compact, and soggy in that third photo. I would repot it with an airy mix. You can realistically add whatever you want to make your mix more aerated, but the way I did is 40% jungle growth organic soil (because it has wood chunks and bark bits), 25% perlite, 30% pumice, and 5% peat moss. You want to water it thoroughly until it drips from the bottom, and you don’t want to water it until the top 30% of the soil is completely dried. This is the best way to prevent root rot. I would cut off any brown soggy mushy rotting roots with sterilized scissors/pruners, then sprinkle cinnamon on the rest of the roots and allow them to dry for 6-24 hours to allow the rot to dry and the cuts you made to callous. I’d also recommend an easy facing window to get the early morning sun for best growth if possible.
