Really bright light. Mine likes direct sun for an hour or so each day or every other day but yours may not. If your new leaves come out with fenestrations and are getting bigger, it has enough light. It leaves are getting smaller or have less fenestrations, you need more light. Water it heavily and let it dry completely before watering again. Give it a humidifier or keep it in a humid spot. Mist the plant down when new leaves are unfurling to help it along and not get stuck. Hope this helps! Congrats on your plant! Best of luck!

Quick question Jules. How do you keep your lower baby leaves lit well enough. Ive tried repositioning the light in several different ways, but those underside babies are suffering. Also, if not "enough" fenestrations this is also a symptom of low light? Wow... That's crazy. Any tips?

This isn’t from my experience, to be fair, but through some research I’ve done about the plant in trying to care for my own. My plant is still immature and small. If you have a mature plant where the baby leaves are not getting much light, I wouldn’t worry too much. Older leave naturally die off and the baby leaves are typically the oldest. Also, the larger leaves will absorb enough energy for the whole plant if lighting is sufficient. As for the fenestrations question, (again just from my research) think of fenestrations, perforations, and variegation all in the same way. If a plant has places that are missing chlorophyll it will need brighter light to accommodate that. If you want more perforations, fenestrations, or variegation out of any plant that has these features, it will need more light to produce these areas where light will not be absorbed by the plant. If the plant as a whole is receiving enough light then all the leaves (shaded by other leaves, perforated, fenestrated or variegated) will thrive and produce more of those features. I hope this answers your question! Ask away if you have anymore!

ok! they love bright indirect light, and to be slightly root bound. when you see roots coming out of the pot, upgrade the pot side 2-3 inches. also, what’re when the top 4 inches are dry soil. that’s what mine love. and welcome to the plant free, Hannah!
