Herman’s leaf drama saga continues! Only this leaf is throwing a fit, the others seem very happy! I, about 2 days ago, removed the water from the reservoir. The top inch of soil still feels moist now. I’ve heard suggested to trim off the brown part…is that right? Any other assistance is appreciated!🪴🙏
The more variegated a leaf is, the more likely the variegated part is to dry out or experience damage because there isn’t enough chlorophyll to support the variegation. What’s the humidity level around Herman? I’d suggest a minimum of 45% for variegated plants and other humidity sensitive plants like begonias or anthurium
1 like I’m in central Florida and believe my living room humidity is adequate…I leave the ac off a lot, which I think helps.
1 like I’m in Tampa and I still run a humidifier, our apartment stays at like 33-38% without it, but it shouldn’t dry out like that from Florida humidity. Has the leaf maybe been too close to a grow light or sit in direct sunlight for too long? I accidentally just gave my Thai con a mild sunburn but I have very little variegation compared to yours. The fact that the rest of herman looks fine is telling me that it’s not an issue for the plant, only the super sensitive sections.
1 like Yeah, near an east facing window…I keep a small full spectrum light a foot or more away.
0 likes I’d probably trim the burnt part back a little and monitor the variegation for a couple days, I don’t think that’s quite enough to burn it
