How root-bound is too root-bound for monsteras? I repotted only a couple of months ago but I’m not seeing much new growth lately, should I pot up?

yea that looks root bound because its growing around the base of the pot
1 j'aimeRepot when you are seeing more than 50/50 roots to soil. Especially monstera’s that enjoy being snug. If you repotted recently and haven’t seen much new growth its often because the plant is putting energy into growing more root (a good thing). Once its established again it will put out new growth.
2 J'aimeMonsteras prefer to grow roots over leaves. They will grow and grow and grow roots and once they’re secure, resort to leaves. Except humans prefer to look at leaves over roots, so we keep them as snug as they can handle so they pop up more leaves 🌱☺️
1 j'aimeOk so I keep waiting and hopefully new leaves will come? When do you think the right time to repot is?
0 J'aimeLike what GreenLeaf said, when the roots to soil ratio is above 50/50. That can depend on the plant and the conditions it’s growing in. It looks like a lot of roots because from what I’ve found, they grow on the outside and then work inward. If you opened it up, it would look like a root cup rather than a root ball.
1 j'aimeThank you! I wasn’t sure if the roots end up moving inward so good to know.
1 j'aimeWow what cool roots, that root looks like a little arm! Is Dobby hiding in there 🤪
1 j'aimeThat might be the reflection of my arm taking the picture 😂🙈
